A GO Fund Me campaign was launched to raise funds for Gary Mackay’s family after he was shot dead trying to protect them from intruders, at the weekend.
The father of two was shot in his abdomen during a robbery in his Westville home at about 4am.
According to reports, Mackay heard noises downstairs and went to investigate. He was confronted by the three robbers and was shot during a struggle.
The SAPS are currently investigating and no arrests have been made.
