SAIEN Moodley, a Grade 7 pupil at Thomas More College, represented South Africa in August at the Thailand International Mathematics Competition (TIMC).
The theme at the event was Mathematics is the future of Mankind. Saien was the top member of the SA junior team as he was the only one to receive a merit certificate. He also received a bronze medal for IMAS.
Aside from the mathematics, he was exposed to a range of cultures and was left in awe of the beautiful sights of Dubai, enroute to Thailand and Chiang Mai.
Saien said, “The Thai hospitality was incredible and this is an experience and challenge that will truly live with me forever. I am grateful for the opportunity to represent my country.”
