Feast your heart out at fundraiser

The fantastic night out is to help raise funds for little Giselle Stow's operation.

ENJOY a fantastic feast at a fundraiser that will contribute to the medical bills of Grade 2 pupil, Giselle Stow.

Giselle was born more than two months premature and was initially diagnosed with Pierre Robin Syndrome. It was later realised that this was not the case and doctors have since placed her among eight other children with the same syndrome, one that has not yet been named.

The operation is due to take place this year and will rectify Giselle’s mouth. Her jaw has to be lengthened, widened and tilted. The surgeons will also be trying

to open her mouth and do fat implants into her cheeks. “The reason to open her mouth is at the moment Giselle can barely open it, and she only has four teeth,

and with the hope of adult teeth coming through in the next year or so, Giselle will not be able to open her mouth at all, and therefore she will not

be able to eat or speak,” said her mom, Gabrielle.

The operation has been organised for Hillcrest Hospital and will be handled by the same team that completed the previous operation. “To intubate her is very difficult and dangerous. To add to it, Giselle’s epiglottis does not work like ours as it faces downwards which causes the problem, along with the throat being so small,” said her mom.

Gabrielle said that her daughter is currently doing exceptionally well at school. “She is an amazing child and a very happy soul. With all the odds against her, she loves life and copes with everything that has happened to her. She is truly a miracle as she is known by her paediatrician and team of doctors who have had contact with her,” said the doting mom.

The dinner and show will be staged and sponsored by Spotlight Productions and catered for by Armelle’s Cuisine. Go along and enjoy a delicious selection of soups and desserts, while being entertained by a talented cast, who have all put their own twists on the songs that they love. They are guaranteed to get you singing along and out of your seats.

The fundraiser is for one night only and will be at Pinetown Girls’ High School on Saturday, 27 August. The doors will open at 6.30pm, dinner will be served from 7pm and the show will start at 8pm. Tickets are R120 a person and there will also be a lucky draw on the night. To purchase tickets, contact Gabrielle Stow on 084 207 7899.
