ST Mary’s DSG Grade 2 pupil, Mia Borrageiro, has been chosen as the SPAR Star of the Month.
She has been selected to represent South Africa in the 2016 Biathle World Champs in Sarasota, US, in October. During the biathle season, Mia remained undefeated in the upper Highway heats in her age category, Youth F, and went on to place second in both the eThekweni champs and KZN champs at Kings Park.
She was awarded the opportunity to represent KZN in the recent SA Biathle Champs on 25 June in Bela Bela, Limpopo. During her event she was placed in 7th position out of 32 competitors, with the top 10 athletes all within 10 per cent of the winner. A Biathle is a precursor to the Modern Pentathlon event, and consists of a run-a swim-run. It also often leads on to triathlon and biathlon events.
