Man shot during hijacking

Hijackers fled with the victim’s light blue Hyundai Getz.

A MAN was injured in an alleged hijacking in Moodie Street in Pinetown just before 6.30am on Thursday.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Cpt Bongumusa Manqele said it is alleged that the victim (44) had parked his car along Moodie street and was waiting for his friend who had gone to the shop when he was attacked by two armed men.

“The victim was allegedly shot in the hip and forced out of his vehicle. The men fled the scene with the victim’s light blue Hyundai Getz. The victim was transported to hospital in a stable condition,” said Manqele.

Rescue Care Paramedics, advanced life support paramedic, Ceron Lennox, said paramedics stabilised him on the scene and transported him to hospital.

A case of hijacking and attempted murder was opened at Pinetown police station but no arrests have been made.
