Wanga wins District 9 Libraries quiz
The winner and runner up have qualified for the Inter-District finals at the National Science Museum in Durban on 8 September.
DISTRICT 9 Libraries held the annual quiz competition for Grade 7 pupils at the Westville North Library on Thursday 11 August, to promote reading.
There was 10 participants, each whom had to read two fiction and one non-fiction book and then answer a quiz.
Wanga Charma of Westville Senior Primary School won the event followed by Nombulelo Khuzwayo of Zakhele Primary School in Motala Heights in second spot. The winner and runner up will proceed to the inter-district finals at the National Science Museum in Durban on 8 September, where they will have to read a third fictional book.
Adjudicators, Angela Hounsell and Nalini Chetty, said the competition was of a very high standard this year. “We were impressed by the participant’s general knowledge. This is an annual event and encourage pupils to continue reading,” said Nalini Chetty.
