Inanda gogos treated to a VIP day at Watercrest

The grandmothers were given a host of essential goods for both themselves and their families.

FIFTEEN gogos from Inanda were given the full VIP treatment at Watercrest Mall in celebration of the tireless work they do for their families and community and to highlight women empowerment.

With the help of the generous tenants at the Mall, Centre Management, The Robin Hood Foundation hosted the gogos, that were highlighted by the Sethani Organisation, for the pamper day.

“The aim was to honour these gogos as outstanding women in their communities for all they do so selflessly for their families,” said Elizabeth Roux, the marketing manager at Watercrest Mall.

Centre management and a team of volunteers from the Robin Hood Foundation and the Sethani Organisation, celebrated the gogos on Friday, 5 August.

The gogos started their day with a breakfast, were pampered with manicures, went shopping, received lovely gifts and ended off with a pizza lunch. Each of the 15 women shopped up a storm at Checkers with RHF volunteer personal shoppers and filled their trolleys with much-needed essential grocery items. “Thank you to Wimpy, Bargain Books, Perfect 10, Checkers, Sorbet, Montagu, Dis-Chem and Panarotti’s for making this all possible,” said Elizabeth.

Watercrest gifted each of the gogos with a solar jar to assist them with a safe and renewable energy source. The Robin Hood Foundation blessed each gogo with a brimming gogo bag that was filled with non-perishable foods and a brand new blanket.

“These gogos, most of whom had never even visited a Mall before, were overwhelmed as they left with happy tears, big smiles and overflowing trolleys,” said Elizabeth.
