FCS unit send rapist to jail

Aunts quick response land rapist behind bars.

THE Pinetown Magistrate’s Court convicted and sentenced Mondli Polotsi Nxumalo (27) to 12 years imprisonment for rape on Monday, 8 August.

The incident took place when the 19-year-old victim was on her way home after visiting a friend. Nxumalo forcefully pulled the victim into the bushes ,threatening her with a firearm and bush knife.

According to KZN police spokesman, Cpt Nqobile Gwala, “She tried to scream for help but the accused threatened to kill her, he then raped her. She then reported the attack to her aunt and it was reported to the police.”

The matter was transferred to the Pinetown Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for further investigation and the accused was then arrested.

He appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court and was kept in custody until his successful prosecution.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni,congratulated the FCS unit for the arrest and conviction.
