Celebrating the Wonderful Women of Highway

Deborah van der Westhuizen, setting high standards in natural medicine.

Deborah (Tyldesley) van der Westhuizen CEO of Phyto-Force, manufacturers of natural and alternative medicines, in particular herbal tinctures says loving both her job and family makes achieving a home/ work balance easy.

I absolutely love my job so I have no problem getting up in the morning to go to work and of course can’t wait to get home again to spend time with my husband and my family. The key is to love what you do, – she says.

Working hard to build and market a brand into a household name, not only in South Africa but other African countries, is an achievement she says she, as a hands on manager of the company she runs and owns, is particularly proud of.

Phyto-Force supplies all health shops and large chain retailers including Dischem Pharmacies, Pick ‘n Pay pharmacies and other selected pharmacies countrywide.  In addition to the manufacture of products for the retail alternative health market, Phyto-Force also supplies specialist teaching facilities, medical doctors and of course naturopaths, herbalists and homeopaths.

Phyto-Force sets high standards for its products producing them according to the high standards set by the British Pharmacopoeia and the Phytotherapeutic Materia Medica.

The company prides itself on all the medicinal plants used to make the extracts and remedies which are sourced from their native country through its own network of highly respected and qualified suppliers.

The Natural remedies contain no herbicides, pesticides, fertilisers or colourants to ensure they remain the way nature intended them.

Deborah, who nurtures a deep passion for natural medicines, hopes the company she heads will continue long after she has retired. “I want to see it continue being one of the leading Natural Medicine brands providing natural healing for all and secure jobs for those that have worked for me for so long and possibly even more secure jobs for those interested in a career in Natural Medicine,” she said, when contemplating the road ahead. “Hopefully by then I will be retired, traveling and enjoying all the other things I love to do.”

During the month of August Phyto-Force is running a Facebook competition.

“Go and like our Facebook page and stand a chance to win a prize,” encourages Deborah adding, “You can also visit the Longmynd Art Gallery and view some beautiful art where we have sponsored some prizes.” Phone 031 7660150 or email deborah@phyto-force.co.za for more information and be sure to visit the Phyto-Force Facebook page (www.facebook.com/phytoforceherbal) and follow their Twitter handle @PhytoForceSA.
