Church to host drum comp at flea market

Stalls are available for R100 each.

CHURCH on the Move on 242 Main Road in Malvern will be hosting a flea market on Saturday, 6 August, fundraising for the church. While there will be plenty of goodies and food sold on the day, member of the church, Dietmar Müller, said the highlights of the event will be the first-of-its-kind drum off competition. “There are two divisions – the junior division that will see participants between the ages of six and 13, and the senior division that will see participant from the ages of 14 and up. The junior division’s drum off will start at 9am and the seniors’ will be at 1pm. We are still open for entries but there is a fee of R30 attached to entering the competition, just to cover costs,” he said.

In addition to drummers showing off their skills in this competition, Müller said that there will be a special guest drummer with more than 30 years’experience who will give drummers advice. “He will be hosting a free drum workshop on percussion and also have a Q and A session from our young aspiring drummers. We have our major sponsor for the drum of competition which is Hunt Zone, Queensburgh. They will provide the prizes for the winners of the drum off competition and have a paintball stall, where anyone and everyone can come and improve their paintball skills,” he explained.

Food, accessories, books, fashion, entertainment, hobbies and outdoor equipment are some of the stands that will be available at the flea market. Gates open at 9am and close at 3pm. Stalls are available for R100 each. For more information contact Dietmar Müller on 073 457 5863.
