Children threatened by knife-wielding thugs
Four men targeted a man and his family at the M13 fly off in Pinetown earlier tonight.
A MAN and his family were accosted by knife-wielding thugs this evening (Saturday 23 July) at the M13 fly off near the Steel Bank close to the bottom of Field’s Hill, in Pinetown.
According to Andreas Mathios of SA Can, the motorist stopped at the glide off to adjust the ropes on his trailer as they had come loose. Mathios explained that the man did not know the area and was busy fixing the ropes when four men converged on the vehicle.
“One of the men placed a knife against his head and threatened to kill him if he did not hand over his money, wallet and cellphone.”
“The other three moved towards the vehicle in which his children were waiting and screamed at him, threatening to stab the children if he did not co-operate,” said Mathios.
According to reports, the victim was armed and fired a shot. At this stage it is unclear if any one of the men were shot, but they fled scene when he drew his weapon and fired.
One of his assailants fled across the freeway and was fatally hit by an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and kept on driving.
