Pavilion adds health and wellness facility

Virgin Active Health Club is anticipated to open its doors in April 2017

DEVELOPMENT at The Pavilion Shopping Centre is well underway with the construction of the eagerly anticipated Virgin Active Health Club.

The stand-alone addition, located in the north east region of the iconic building, comes with a 3200m2 gym, three floors of parking and phenomenal panoramic views. It is anticipated that the facility will open its doors in April 2017.

Marius Muller, CEO of Pareto Ltd, the owners of The Pavilion Shopping Centre, said the construction is progressing well and they are excited to welcome in the Virgin Active brand.

“Health and wellness are fast becoming key components of consumer demand. The inclusion of a gym at The Pavilion will provide consumers with the convenience to shop, be entertained and manage their health and fitness goals all under one roof,” he said.

The new fitness centre will include facilities for group exercise classes and free weight training, a v-cycle studio, heated lap pool, steam room and showers, a wellness area, a Club V and a health snack bar.

The extension comes in the wake of The Pavilion’s recent R220 million upgrade, which included a new food court and an expanded cinema and entertainment offering.

The shopping centre has since installed and commissioned high powered generators that will circumvent all risk of electricity outages in the mall. Three floors of escalators have also been upgraded with ultra-modern, efficient replacements in the centre court arena.

“The Pavilion remains committed to investing in energy efficiency, safety and visual appeal,” said Muller.

He added that all projects undertaken this year have kept to programme and budget.

“The improvements have ensured that the centre’s customers are rewarded with an enhanced shopping experience.”
