Crafters knit up a storm

Adele Walters from the Whitehouse said they were very grateful for these warm donations.

ROB Roy Retirement Village crafters knitted and crocheted blankets and beanies for the Whitehouse in KwaNyuswa for this Mandela Day.

Whitehouse was started by Sithembiso Chili and his wife, Precious.

A resident from Rob Roy, Ireen Ketteringham, who initiated the project said they also wanted to do something special for the less privileged this Mandela Day.

“We made blankets, beanies, scarfs and fingerless gloves to keep the Whitehouse occupants warm this winter,” she said.

Adele Walters from the Whitehouse said they were very grateful for these warm donations.

“We are thankful for the love, commitment and hours that were put in to knit and crochet these blankets.

“It is very cold in the valley and our residents will definitely appreciate this which will put a smile on their faces.

Walters said the home looks after abandoned children and adults who have TB, suffers from celebral palsy, are mentally challenged, disabled and they always appreciates the donations.
