Food donation relieves Ethelbert’s bills

"Ethelbert’s food bill averages at about R7 000 per week – this is to give the 65 children in our care and our on-duty Child Care Workers three nutritious meals a day," said PRO Gaylene Allen.

ETHELBERT Child and Youth Care Center received a donation of groceries worth more than R6 000 from Easton Berry Group recently. “One of our employees, Happiness Simbine, has been part of the outreach with Ethelbert and approached directors and our Group HR who is actively involved in outreach and employee wellness and we grabbed the opportunity to reach out to these kids,” said Flory Pillay, an employee at Easton Berry Group.

“We are a Christian based company and we give of both our finances and time. We believe our future leaders are our children and what better way to start than by giving them hope,” she added.

Ethelbert’s public relations officer, Gaylene Allen, said the donation will go a long way and they are grateful for it. “I would like to thank Easton Berry Group very much for their generous food donation. Ethelbert’s food bill averages at about R7 000 per week – this is to give the 65 children in our care and our on-duty Child Care Workers three nutritious meals a day. Food donations help to reduce our weekly food bill, which means that the money we save can be redirected into buying clothing and supplies for our children,” she said.
