Police officer hijacked in Molweni

The car was later recovered in Ntuzuma.

AN off duty police officer (29) was hijacked in Molweni on Monday, 4 July. According to Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Cst Ndumiso Manqele, it is alleged that an off duty police officer parked her car, a Blue Hyundai i20, on Romans Road in Molweni while she was waiting for her sister who was filling a container with water at a stand pipe.

“She saw two suspicious men talking to her sister and one of them came straight to her and demanded car keys.”

He said the second man drew a gun and pointed it at her. “She handed the car keys to them and they drove off in her car.”

A case of hijacking was reported to Hillcrest Police Station and the vehicle’s description was circulated.

“The car was recovered in Ntuzuma after few hours but no arrested has been made at this stage,” he added.
