Grab a bargain at new SPCA thrift store

There are many hidden treasures to be found in the elegant new thrift store in Hillcrest.

THE Kloof and Highway SPCA is excited to open its new thrift store based in Hillcrest tomorrow on Tuesday, 5 July.

Barbara Patrick, the manager at the NPO, said it had always been a dream to have thrift shops to raise funds for the SPCA and last year in August they opened the Maytime thrift shop and it has been really successful. “We were donated the shop fittings a few months ago and that was where the idea of the shop started,” she said.

The ideal location became available and can be found at the Elangeni Centre, 9 Inanda Road. “We started looking for the ideal location which would be convenient for members of the community to shop at and to drop off their unwanted goods that we could then sell to raise much-needed funds for the SPCA,” said Barbara.

As not all of the Highway community are able to visit the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s property, this new store provides an opportunity to showcase the type of items that are donated to the SPCA which are available at the charity shops at its Kloof property. The community are also encouraged to drop off their unwanted goods a the shop. The thrift shop is open from Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm, Saturday mornings from 8am to 1pm and the first Sunday of each month from 9am to noon.

The shop assistants will be able to answer any questions you may have with how to get involved with the Kloof and Highway SPCA regarding volunteering. You can also make cash donations at the store. All donations, cash and in-kind, will be receipted and a thank you letter will be sent.

“We are really excited that we are able to be among the community and create more awareness about the importance of the work we do,” concluded Barbara.
