Local church welcomes new pastoral staff

Both the pastors believe as a church they exist to make Jesus known and His love known in the community.

PASTORS’ Goodenough Mthembu and Andrew Londal are the newly-appointed members of the Christ Church Pinetown pastoral ministry team.

Pastor Mthembu has been appointed as assistant rector while pastor Londal has the duty to lead pastoral ministries.

Pastor Mthembu was born in Ladysmith and grew up in KwaMaphumulo. Before his appointment at Christ Church he was a pastor at Upper Highway Christ Church, Fredville for 15 years.

Pastor Londal grew up in Westville and moved to Benoni, Johannesburg for five years where he was a pastor at Holy Trinity Benoni.

Both the pastors believe as a church they exist to make Jesus known and His love known in the community and part of that mandate involves many projects in the community.

As a church they are reaching out to the students living nearby and residents in Pinetown.

“We want to make them well-rounded citizens as they are the future leaders of our community, we want to create better, fruitful leaders,” said Pastor Mthembu.

Pastor Londal said it is important that they build a relationship with retirement homes as he finds that the elderly may feel neglected for many reasons.

Pastor Londal lives in Hillcrest with his wife, Robyn, and two children, and Pastor Mthembu lives in New Germany and also married to his wife, Mary, and they have two adult children together.
