Morgan knows how to talk the talk

Thomas More College's SPAR Star of the Month - June 2016.

MORGAN Lee, a Grade 12 pupil at Thomas More College is its SPAR Star of the Month.

Morgan started debating in Grade 8 and has always been interested in public speaking and environmental affairs. In Grade 10 Morgan and Tiyana Ramchunder, together with two pupils from Wyebank Secondary, participated in the Model United Nations competition where they won and went on to represent KZN for the next round in Cape Town.

Morgan and her debating team did very well this season, losing only two debates, with Morgan winning best speaker three times. She took part in the SAIIA Environmental Sustainability Project, along with Annabelle and Stephanie Van Der Westhuizen. They put together an essay and presentation on Food Security and Sustainable Development where Morgan won best presenter. Morgan will now travel to Johannesburg to take part in the SAIIA Young Leaders conference where a team of delegates will draw up a declaration on a given topic and this will be handed over to President Jacob Zuma to be implemented.

“We wish her luck for this week-long adventure,” said Shane Cuthbertson, executive principal at the school.
