Divan tackles his way to success

Forest View Primary School's SPAR Star of the Month - June 2016.

DIVAN Grobler, a Grade 7 pupil at Forest View Primary School and has been chosen as its SPAR Star of the Month.]

He recently took part in the KZN Rugby festival at Glenwood High School and earlier in the season, was selected to represent the Pinetown District Rugby teams. Divan played for both Pinetown teams as a fly half and scored a try and a number of important penalties and conversions for his team in the process.

Divan’s ability to anticipate the game and his exceptional decision making skills were invaluable to the team. He scored a number of interception tries which, combined with his ability to offload the ball in a tackle situation, resulted in favourable outcomes for his team. Watching Divan in his role as a flyhalf was described as exciting as he looks to run the ball or get the backline running at any opportunity. His form this season has been exceptional and has captained Forest View Primary School’s 1st team with pride and honour and is the current top point scorer for the season.

Divan is not only an ultimate rugby fanatic, but a keen and dedicated all-round sportsman. He represents his schools’ 1st teams in cricket, hockey, and soccer and was also an integral part of the school’s swimming and athletics teams.

He was selected as a prefect this year and he understands the position and requirements of a leader. Divan has become an excellent role model for younger pupils and he certainly leads by example. His teachers said he has exceptional manners and is the epitome of a gentleman.

“Forest View is very proud of Divan’s all round sporting accomplishments. We know that there are big things ahead for him as he tackles new and exciting challenges. You are a wonderful ambassador for FVPS, Divan,” said said Shayleen Shum, principal at Forest View Primary School.
