Knitted squares patched together for charity

Atholl Heights Primary School pupils and their families knitted more than 70 blankets during the last three months.

ATHOLL Heights Primary School held its annual winter blanket drive this year, which exceeded all expectations.

Their goal was to knit and crochet enough squares to complete 67 blankets for Mandela Day. Pupils and their wonderful families have all been knitting during the past three months and to date have completed in excess of 70 blankets.

Val Grantham, one of the grannies, volunteered to join the squares together into the beautiful blankets. Five blankets will be raffled and the funds received will be used by the Atholl Angels Charities group to provide care meals and hampers for the less fortunate in the community. The rest of the blankets will be donated to various care homes, crèches and orphanages.

All the blankets were laid out in our school hall for the pupils and staff to see the end results.
