Man arrested in possession of a deadly drug

KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Maj Gen Bhekinkosi Langa, said police officers will work hard in getting rid of drugs

A 25-YEAR-old man was arrested for possession of drugs in Pinetown on Thursday, 16 June.

It is alleged that Shongweni K9 Unit as well as the Hawks and other units were conducting crime prevention duties in Pinetown and the surroundings when they followed up information about drugs in the area.

KZN police spokesman, Lt/Col Thulani Zwane, said the man was spotted in the Pinetown area and was searched. “He was found in possession of 10 ‘Mercedes’ ecstasy tablets as well as one gram of cocaine. The man was arrested and charged with possession of drugs,” said Zwane.

This comes after three teenage boys were rushed to a private hospital on Wednesday evening after ingesting a drug that they bought in the Highway area.

According to Brad Nathanson Investigation’s Facebook page, the drug was dissolved in water before the boys drank the concoction, which rendered all three boys unconscious, paralytic and incapable of communication.

Nathanson wrote on the page that the boys are presently recovering in hospital after receiving medical attention.

KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Maj Gen Bhekinkosi Langa, said police officers will work hard in getting rid of drugs that are circulating in the community.

“‘Drugs are the contributing factors in other crimes in the province and we are encouraging the community to expose those drug dealers by reporting them to the police. I also discourage our youth from abusing drugs but rather get involved in sports and other activities to keep them busy during their spare time,” he said.
