THE Unlimited had its Love Day on Friday, 17 June there were about about 250 people from the community to volunteer their time and joined the team on the day to transform five crèches in the upper Highway area.
For the past 22 years, The Unlimited has been a proud member of the upper Highway community and is passionate about making a positive impact through its early childhood education initiative, The Unlimited Child. Over and above the work they do through The Unlimited Child, the company also spends two working days each year transforming crèches in and around the Hillcrest area.
Friends and families are invited to join in to fix playgrounds, plant veggie patches and paint buildings and classrooms. The Unlimited calls this a ‘Love Day’. This was an opportunity to give back to the community, a great family day.
Among the people who booked their spot for The Unlimited’s Love Day was popular regional deejay, Damon Beard, and Unathi Msengana.
Buses transported volunteers to and from the crèches and water and snacks were be provided. One of the creches that were transformed was Inhlakanipho Pre-Primary School in KwaNyuswa.
The creche opened in 2007 and principal, Thembisile Zulu, was overwhelmed with the work done at the crèche. “It will make a huge difference to our crèche as the money that does get in is never enough to make such renovations,” said Mrs Zulu.
One of the volunteers who was part of the gardening team, regional semi-finalist for Miss Earth SA, Melissa Schreiber, said she has always been a lover of nature, the earth and animals and this was the best way show her love for nature and encourage others to look after nature.
