Centenary Centre to keep Kearsney College ahead in innovative teaching

The new classrooms allow for modern teaching methodologies.

KEARSNEY College officially opened the new Centenary Centre during the school’s 95th anniversary Founders’ Day weekend.

This first phase has added four large 72m² classrooms to the school’s facilities, as well as a flexible multi-purpose venue which can be used as an exam location and for exhibitions, presentations, art exhibitions, music and drama performances. It is adjacent to an impressive quadrangle, designed to ensure the school retains its special iconic architecture.

Academics are Kearsney’s number one priority and the motivation for the project arose primarily from this commitment to academic excellence.

Headmaster, Elwyn van den Aardweg, said the new classrooms are in line with international best practice and allow for modern teaching methodologies, providing the space and configuration for teachers to effectively facilitate group discussions and project-based work while incorporating appropriate technology.

“Kearsney is widely recognised as one of the country’s most prestigious schools and constant improvement and innovation are important for the college to remain a world-class school,” he said.
