GALLERY: Community bails ‘celebs’ out of SPCA kennels

Donations are still coming through at this stage.

KLOOF and Highway SPCA was abuzz with great excitement on Friday, 27 May and Saturday, 28 May at the annual 2016 Dog Box fundraiser.

According to Lisa Mörck, public relations and outreach officer at the SPCA, 24 people were locked in 24 kennels for 24 hours from noon on Friday, 27 May until noon on Saturday, 28 May in an effort to help raise funds for the Kloof and Highway SPCA.

“The funds raised will be allocated to the Kloof and Highway SPCA outreach clinics during the year and this is where our community are encouraged to make a difference and be a part of our team that reaches out to animals living in underprivileged and very poor communities in abject poverty,” said Mörck.

The event was a great success and well-supported by the community, who visited the ‘prisoners’ to make donations and show their support. Donations are still coming through and the Kloof and Highway SPCA thanked everyone who took part in its 2016 Dog Box challenge as well as those who donated towards ‘bailing’ the participants out.
