SAPS slams misleading flyers

The public is also urged to refrain from circulating these false messages.

SAPS has distanced itself from the flyers or messages that are circulating on the social media, warning parents about child smugglers who are offering drug addicts money to help kidnap school children.

KZN police spokesman, Maj Thulani Zwane, said, “We appeal to the community and the parents not to panic and take extra precautions when dealing with such false information.”

He said those addicted to drugs can be referred to rehabilitation centres to get help.

“We also urge people to refrain from circulating false messages aimed at causing alarm and citing SAPS as the distributors of such, and also urge parents to take care of their children and know their whereabouts at all times,” he said.
