PinkDrive set to benefit from the Comrades

PinkDrive supporters can visit the Durban and Pietermaritzburg Comrades expos for clinical breast examination and PSA testing for men.

PINKDRIVE is set to receive a generous donation from the annual Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) as part of the Race4Charity initiative.

Race4Charity offers runners an opportunity to turn their running efforts into something great by raising funds for one of the CMA’s six official charities, one of which is PinkDrive.

As one of South Africa’s most essential non-profit companies, PinkDrive relies on the financial support of the private and public sectors to continue its great work in South Africa.

This year the CMA reserved 1 000 entries for runners of the 2016 Comrades Marathon, each raising R5 000 for their charity of choice in order to qualify.

This ensured that they get to start in their own special seeding batch (CC – Comrades charity batch) near the front of the field on race day. The rest is up to the individual runners.

This year the PinkDrive has no less than six participants, who together have raised a total of R300 315, with Carel Nolte on top of the leaderboard.

Noelene Kotschan, PinkDrive founder and CEO, said Comrades is the highlight event on the event calendar and they are grateful that they can be part of this platform.

‘”This platform affords runners the option to make their marathon meaningful by raising funds for charities. I stand amazed every year at the amounts that the runners raise. These funds assist us in keeping our existing mobile mammography units on the road and help to build more units. Thank you to all the PinkDrive runners who made the effort in raising funds they are our champions.”

All participants and supporters can still do their bit for charity by visiting the PinkDrive stands at the Durban and Pietermaritzburg Comrades expos. Meet the team and make use of the free clinical breast examination and PSA testing for the men (first 50 are free).

“Remember, early detection saves lives,” said Kotschan.
