CURRO hosts base camp buffet fundraiser

The CURRO team is still looking for sponsorship for their team and are endeavouring to raise money for a school in Nepal.

CURRO Hillcrest held a corporate dinner on Saturday night, 21 May to raise money for a trip to Kathmandu in Nepal in September. Guest speakers on the evening were Rob Bentley and Sean Wisedale, who both survived the avalanche that flattened the Everest base camp in 2015.

Wisedale is the first person from Africa to achieve the Seven Summits, a mountaineering challenge that comprises reaching the summit of the highest mountain on each of the seven continents, while Bentley, who has summited Kilimanjaro twice, survived the avalanche that flattened the Everest base camp last year and lives by the motto, ‘If your life flashes before your eyes one day, make sure it was worth living’. His adventures have included taking part in the Roof of Africa enduro challenge.

The CURRO team is still looking for sponsorship for their team and are endeavouring to raise money for a school in Nepal. The school, Tiny Seeds, is for children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds, some of whom are orphaned. Many of the Tiny Seeds schools are still in ruins following the 2015 earthquake.
