Educor launch academic advising centre

The dazzling magician and entertainer, Mo Magic, was the MC for the day.

EDUCOR Holdings, the supplier of private education in South Africa, launched a first Academic Advising Centre (AAC) in South Africa on Wednesday, 11 May

After immense success in the USA, the concept was introduced in South Africa by Educor to provide students with the best resources and academic support available.

“When a student registers with any of Educor’s brands, an AAC adviser is allocated to them. This adviser is an expert in the relevant field of study and will support and guide the student throughout their qualification,” said Jessie Naidoo, Educor’s head of communications.

Magician and entertainer, Mo Magic, was the MC for the day.

Dr JF Strydom (University of the Free State) and Gugu Wendy Khanye (South African National Resource Centre) highlighted the true value of advisers, not only in South Africa but internationally.

According to Khanye, “The launch of the Educor AAC was in its truest sense a phenomenal experience. To observe such immense commitment towards student support is a moment never to be forgotten. This is evidence of Educor’s commitment to intentional and sustained relationships with their students.”

She congratulated Educor for breaking ground and joining the global conversation. “This centre will indeed be the advising blueprint in South Africa,” added Khanye.

One of the highlights of the launch was a singing performance by Educor’s CityVarsity students, Swakhile Mashwama and Leonard Moeng, who enthralled guests with their vocal talent, and this was cemented as one of the many highlights of the launch.

Prof Driekie Hay-Swemmer, group chief academic officer, said, “The launch of the AAC at Educor has been a great success and I can proudly say that this strategic incline on student support and retention will have a greater impact on education within South Africa. This is an exciting time for us as we engage further in changing and improving on mechanisms to deliver better results with quality at the forefront.”

The AAC will act as the service arm of Educor’s seven distinguished brands, which include Damelin, CityVarsity, Central Technical College, ICESA, Damelin Correspondence College, INTEC College and Lyceum.
