Grass-cutting schedule to resume

The areas with overgrown grass will be prioritised.

ETHEKWINI Municipality has announced that grass-cutting and weed-spraying operations will commence immediately. This is in line with the municipality’s commitment to creating a clean and safe environment for residents to live, work and play in.

The municipality anticipates that four cycles of grass-cutting will be undertaken and completed between May and December.

According to Tozi Mthethwa, eThekwini Municipality’s head of communications, the areas with overgrown grass will be prioritised.

“Approximately 272 co-operatives from around the municipal area have been engaged on a three-year contract to carry out grass-cutting and weed-spraying services in various areas around the city.”

Tozi said the municipality would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding while the necessary supply chain management processes were being finalised to ensure that eThekwini is able to provide quality services to residents, while complying with the Municipal Finance Management Act.
