FOUR people were injured, one seriously, when two vehicles collided on Otto Volek Road just before the M19 in Pinetown on Saturday afternoon.
According to Garrith Jamieson, operations director at Rescue Care, paramedics attended the accident scene just after 4pm and found the two vehicles had collided in a T-bone fashion.
“One person was trapped in the wreckage and had to be cut free by the Fire Department using the jaws of life and hydraulic equipment while paramedics stabilised him in the wreckage. Once he was freed, he was carefully extricated by paramedics. Three other patients were treated on scene and also transported to various hospitals,” said Jamieson.
He said it is unclear what caused the collision at this stage, however SAPS was on scene and will be investigating.
