Support the SAPS widows and orphans fund

"More than 400 families of police officials in KwaZulu-Natal are supported by the Widows' and Orphans' Fund."

THE SAPS Widows’ and Orphans’ Fund Golf Day will be held on Wednesday, 8 June at Mount Edgecombe Country Club. The host for the day will be cricket legend, Mike Procter. This fundraising event was initiated eleven years ago with the aim of raising funds and awareness for the families of police officials that were killed in the line of duty.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele, said more than 400 families of police officials in KwaZulu-Natal are supported by the Widows’ and Orphans’ Fund.

“The fund is dependent solely on the voluntary contributions of police officials, donations from the public and fundraising events, such as this golf day. Companies from across corporate South Africa have also, unequivocally, supported this great cause,” he said.

In the spirit of giving, the Widows’ and Orphans’ Fund Golf Day committee invites everyone to join and assist in raising funds for the families.

“People can pledge their support by donating money or sponsoring prizes for the day,” added Manqele.
