Water restored in most parts of Durban

The eThekwini Municipality apologised for the inconvenience caused by the burst pipeline.

THE water supply problem which affected Durban south was restored in most areas this morning (Friday, 13 May).

Repairs to the burst pipeline interrupted the water supply to parts of Northdene, Chatsworth, Shallcross, Klaarwater, St Wendolin’s, KwaNdengezi, Dassenhoek, Milky Way, parts of Tshelimnyama, Savannah Park, Hlanganisa Road, Intake Road and Luganda on Tuesday, 10 May.

This was caused by the heavy rainfall experienced over the weekend, which caused damage to the city’s bulk pipelines

“Most of the affected areas are now receiving a normal supply of water. However, a few areas are still affected as reservoirs are still being filled with water. These areas are expected to receive a normal water supply later today.

“Water tankers will be dispatched to these areas until their water supply is restored,” said eThekwini municipality’s head of communications, Tozi Mthethwa.

The city thanked the public for their patience and apologised for any inconvenience caused during the repairing of the burst pipeline.
