Avon junior wins singing competition

"The parental support was much-appreciated, this was a proud moment for everyone in the Avon family," said Reddy.

AVON Junior Primary School choir, comprising Grade 1 and 2 pupils competed in the South Africa School Choir Eistedfed (SASCE) in the foundation phase.

Avon scored the highest marks in both their songs (western and African) within the Durban North West Circuit and received a trophy and two certificates on Monday, 18 April.

On Monday, 25 April, the choir competed against all the circuit winners within the Pinetown District. Once again, Avon won top honours in both categories, winning the competition. They were awarded two trophies and two certificates for their outstanding achievement.

The school’s principal, Mahlini Reddy, staff and the school governing body applauded Ranganathen Chetty, the choir master, and the pupils for the outstanding achievement.

“The parental support was much-appreciated, this was a proud moment for everyone in the Avon family,” said Reddy.
