Man dies in M7 accident

"Unfortunately, a short while after arriving at hospital the man went into cardiac arrest and despite resuscitation efforts was declared deceased," said Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson.

A MAN died shortly after arriving at hospital on Wednesday night, 27 April after a single vehicle accident on the M7 between North Park and Bellville Road bridge.

Rescue Care operations director, Garrith Jamieson, said paramedics were called to the scene late last night. “Rescue Care paramedics arrived on the scene just after 11pm to find that a single vehicle had somehow lost control and rolled several times, ejecting the driver in the process.

The critically-injured man lay on the busy roadway and advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise the man, he explained. He added that the driver was placed on a manual ventilator on the scene before being rushed to a hospital.

“Unfortunately, a short while after arriving at hospital the man went into cardiac arrest and despite resuscitation efforts was declared deceased,” said Jamieson. It is unclear at this stage what caused the single vehicle to roll, however the necessary authorities were on scene and are investigating.
