Biker dies on N3 highway

The biker's husband, who was riding in front of his wife, was alerted to the accident by a fellow motorist.

A WOMAN in her 50s died this afternoon when her motorcycle collided with a barrier on the N3 highway near Hammarsdale.

“ER24 paramedics, along with provincial services, arrived on the scene and found the body of the woman lying on the opposite highway in the fast lane,” said Russel Meiring, ER24’s spokesman.

The woman was declared dead on scene. “It is understood that the woman lost control of her motorcycle, causing it to collide with the concrete barrier and fling her into the opposite highway. The husband had been driving in front of his wife. He had apparently not noticed the incident and was alerted by a fellow motorist,” said Meiring.

The local SAPS was on the scene and will be investigating.
