Healing through Christian Science

Rodriguez said he personally had found out about the healing system of Christian Science in early adulthood. The ideas in the book, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, had transformed him.

BY changing their thinking, people can overcome problems, such as a lack of money, food or jobs. These are some of the sentiments shared by international speaker, practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing, Lorenzo Rodriguez.

Hailing from Miami in the United States, Rodriguez hosted a talk at Kloof Junior Primary School on Sunday, 18 April, that he based on personal experience.

His family had been very hard up after they had left Cuba when he was a child. His father, who had been an officer in the Cuban Navy, was sick and his mother, a piano teacher, was unable to find work. However, they always held tight family bonds and they had tackled their problems constructively.

Rodriguez said he personally had found out about the healing system of Christian Science in early adulthood. The ideas in the book, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, had transformed him. As a result, he had left a career in human resources and had completely dedicated himself to become a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing.

He encouraged the audience not to give in to desperation, but to ‘cast their nets on the right side’, as Jesus had taught. This involved acknowledging an ‘all-seeing, all-knowing, all-wise God’. “People needed to become aware of their true identity as a child of God,” he said. This had resulted in countless healings. His talk, entitled Spiritual Solutions for Desperate Situations, was sponsored by the First Church of Christ, Kloof.
