Bowls tournament fund raises for Flame Lily

Over the past four years, this tournament has helped to raise close to R200 000 toward the running of the facility.

THE annual fun bowls tournament fundraiser for the Flame Lily Park frail care facility is back, bigger and better. This year, the event will be hosted at five different bowling clubs simultaneously. For a day of fun and entertainment, join other bowling enthusiasts at the Ridley Park BC, Queensburgh BC, Firwood BC, Hillary BC or at the Durban Wanderers BC on Sunday, 1 May.

The format will consist of two regular bowlers, and two ‘fun bowlers’ and for this reason, families and friends are invited to join in on this fun day for a very worthy cause. The entry fee is R75 per player, which includes green fees, tea and sandwiches. After the bowls, everyone is invited to Flame Lily Park for prizegiving, entertainment, and something to eat and drink.

Most frail care facility require a lot of money to operate throughout the year and Flame Lily’s facility is no different. Funds are generated primarily via donations and fundraising by Flame Lily Park and the MOTH organisation.

The tournament was started on 1 May 2012, dedicated to the memory of the late MOTH, Vernon Corbishley, the founder of Flame Lily Park. Over the past four years, this tournament has helped to raise close to R200 000 toward the running of the facility. Contact Steve Van Rooyen on 073 489 4369 or Lofty Cawthorne on 074 889 1125.
