KHBA calls for community support

Volunteer or make a cash donation to ensure that KHBA can fulfill its mandate.

THE Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association has continued to make a large difference in the area during the last years and is now calling for volunteers and sponsors.

“The Association was established as a non-profit organization in 2006 and celebrated its 10th birthday this year,” said Marge Mitchell, chairman of the Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association.

The aims and objectives of the NPO are threefold: recycle, reduce litter, beautify and the 10 volunteers currently on the committee work hard to ensure it fulfills its mandate.

“We employ five previously disadvantaged persons to do the heavy work as our committee consists of quite elderly volunteers, the oldest being 88 – but she is the brightest spark!

“We had an overwhelming support for our appeal for plants for Inanda Road centre island verge in 2015, whom we are most grateful to, and we thank the 100 members who contribute R30 per annum and our five sponsors who grant us a monthly amount.

“But this is an appeal for further sponsors or members. Our aim is to remain sustainable, and we are reliant on the public and businesses to support us. We receive no funding from any quarter,” said Marge.

KHBA’s financial documents are open to scrutiny at the end of each financial year, and its finances are audited. All monies received are used to further its aims and objectives.
