Pitlochry raises funds for muscular dystrophy

"We are amazed to see how much a small school can do, they have really exceeded our expectations," said Ainswath.

PITLOCHRY Primary School held a civvies day for the pupils to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation. Each pupil paid a minimum of R10 and together they raised R3 273.

Heather Ainswath, administrator and fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation KZN, said, “We are very grateful for the amount that we received.

The foundation, among other things, supports affected people and their families by offering emotional support and genetic counselling. “We hope that this act of kindness will raise further awareness about Muscular Dystrophy.”

Headmaster, Nico van Pletzen, said they planned to make this fundraiser an annual event.

“Each week, different grades get an opportunity to host the assembly and recently we had a presentation about muscular dystrophy, which was very good as the whole school understood what they were fundraising for,” he said.

“We are amazed to see how much a small school can do, they have really exceeded our expectations,” said Ainswath.
