Malvern SAPS stats: Decrease in crime

"This has also been due to increased road blocks, blue light patrols and monitoring of exit and entry points."

POLICE in Malvern say they have seen and noted a decrease in crime due to proactive measures being deployed in the area, according to W/O Radhika Marimuthu, Corporate Communications Officer.

“This has also been due to increased road blocks, blue light patrols and monitoring of exit and entry points. The bushy areas and nature reserves have been trailed by members on foot and bike, tracing the path of suspects. The ravines and footpaths were scoured for disposed stolen items,” she said.

Posting of images of suspicious people and vehicles in the area on chat groups had also been helpful in alerting the police, and residents were encouraged to continue doing so. “Trends and patterns of crime have been brainstormed and counter measures have been put in place to avoid further incidents of a similar nature. The neighbourhood watches were also pivotal in informing the police of suspicious activity in their areas,” said the W/O.
