House robbers tie up elderly man (89)

The group of men fled the Westville home with expensive goods and frozen foods.

A GANG of armed robbers held up an 89-year-old man in his home in Westville on Friday, 11 March.

The man woke up in his garden cottage in Pitlochry Road at around 4am to find three men armed with knives standing next to his bed at. The men had forced open a window to gain entry into the cottage.

“They tied him up and made him lie on the floor and took a bag, his wallet, a watch, a camera, a cellphone and food from the freezer before fleeing the scene,” said Blue Security’s operations manager, Brian Jackson. When the robbers left, the man broke free and alerted his son-in-law in the main house on the property. No injuries were reported.

The Westville SAPS was at the scene and will be investigating.
