One dead in house collapse
Paramedics and fire-fighters searched through the rubble for approximately 15 minutes before they found the man entrapped.
EMERGENCY services responded to a house in the Sunshine area in Mariannhill where a block-and-mortar house had collapsed in the early hours of Saturday, 12 March.
Paramedics from the department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and that found a woman in her 30s had sustained serious injuries.
While treating her, it was established that another person was trapped in the rubble of the collapsed house. Paramedics and fire-fighters searched through the rubble for approximately 15 minutes before they found the trapped man. The 35 year old man, believed to be the husband of the injured woman, sustained fatal injuries during the collapse of the house.
The tragic incident is being investigated by the police.
