SUPPORT Hillcrest High School’s Angel Tea at the school hall on Saturday, 12 March from 9am to 1pm.

It is difficult for a pupil to fulfil his or her academic potential if he or she lacks the basic needs like food, clothing and health-care. The Angel Fund at Hillcrest High School was established to assist pupils in financial need. In order to enable maximum concentration at school, the Angel Fund ensures that no child goes hungry at school.

The Angel Fund committee’s activities are coordinated by a group of four teachers and a dedicated group of pupils. This committee engages in regular fundraising activities.

The bulk of funds raised are directed towards providing lunches for needy pupils. The Angel Fund also assists pupils who cannot access medical care. In addition they provide stationery and second-hand school clothes to those who cannot afford them. The fund has also assisted pupils’ families with groceries, until their circumstances have improved.

One of the annual events the committee hosts is the Angel Tea, a tea and pamper morning for women. The women are treated to a tea with a scrumptious array of eats while Dis-Chem Pharmacy (partner in the event) shares information on health and skincare. Dis-Chem also arranges for various leading cosmetic houses to pamper women with make-overs, nail painting and advice on beauty and health-care. There are lucky draws and significant Dis-Chem hampers to be given away.

You have to be seated by 8.45am. The cost is R90 and you must wear a hat as there is a prize for the best hat. Contact Sharmila Cowlesur or Carol Edy on 031 765 1215.
