Malvern SAPS recognised for excellence

The Malvern Detective Branch took the much-lauded Gold Award for the best Detective Branch in KZN and the Bronze Award in the best station category for medium stations.

KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu, hosted a Community and Police Service Excellence Awards ceremony on Friday, 26 February at Sibaya Casino. The Malvern police station received two prestigious awards.

“The Malvern Detective Branch took the much-lauded Gold Award for the best Detective Branch in KZN. This highly ranked award was received by the Branch Commander of the Detective Branch, Capt Alvin Thomas. Malvern SAPS also received the Bronze Award in the best station category for medium stations,” stated corporate communications officer, W/O Radhika Marimuthu.

She added that the confluence of these awards were the result of highly powered brainstorming, teamwork, dedication and having the best interests of the community at heart.

Station Commander, Lt-Col Valarine Reddy, expressed her pride in the team’s overall achievements. “From her inception at the helm of SAPS Malvern, Lt-Col Reddy has advocated and empathised power-driven teamwork, hardcore strategies in meeting challenges as well a tightly-knit bond with all community role players and stakeholders,” added W/O Marimuthu.

“The success of SAPS Malvern is purely all the members’ teamwork and dedication, the strong management presence, the rapport between the neighbourhood watches, reservists and chat groups and the quest to meet and conquer challenges successfully. Teamwork and team-building have assisted in boosting the members’ morale and this has played a pivotal role in the successes of SAPS Malvern,” said Lt-Col Reddy.
