Headway members make waves at gala

The races ranged from walking to kicking and backstroke.

HEADWAY-Natal hosted its annual gala last Thursday morning with Olympian, Chad le Clos, the guest of honour.

The Westville-based NPO, which works with head injury and stroke victims, hosted the gala as a way for its members to track the progress made throughout the year. “It is a lot of fun and a means of encouraging exercise,” said Rod Soutter, the manager at Headway-Natal. The races ranged from walking to kicking and backstroke.

“To be a part of this is rewarding for myself and is really humbling. It really puts your own worries and troubles into perspective. I feel the pressure of not winning at the Olympics and how it will affect my career, where the members of Headway-Natal are super glad to be completing a lap of the pool. Their achievements are just so incredible,” said gold medallist, Chad le Clos.
