THE two men who were shot and murdered in Pinetown last night were identified as Thulasizwe Mbambo and Nkokhelo Njili.
Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bingumusa Manqele, said according to reports, the two men parked their vehicle at Esibayeni taxi rank around 8.30pm.
Pinetown SAPS police attended the scene and found two men with multiple wounds.
One of the men, a passenger, stepped out of the car to open a gate and unknown men started firing shots at him. “The passenger ran towards Hill Street where he fell and died on the scene.”
Manqele said the driver also ran towards Link Road, where the gunmen chased him and shot him.
“The motive of this killing is unknown at the stage and around 35 rifle cartridges were found at the scene,” he said.
The bodies were taken to Pinetown Mortuary and the next of kin were informed.
