Thunderstorms expected across Durban

South African Weather Services has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms on Thursday, 18 February.

THE South African Weather Services has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms tomorrow (Thursday, 18 February).

According to Sanjeev Sewnarain of the Durban Weather Office, the SA Weather Services recorded 12.6mm rain fall on Tuesday, 17 February. The weather forecast for today is further 60 percent chance of rain this evening.

“There a 60 percent chance of rainfall for today and tomorrow and 30 percent for the next few days. Residents are also urged to watch out for severe thunderstorms tomorrow,” said Sewnarain.

Temperatures are expected to be 22°C to 25°C with 60 percent chance of rain throughout the day on Thursday, 18 February, with sunrise at 5.38am and sunset at 6.40pm.

Friday, 19 February is expected to be partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain and thundershowers, minimum 23°C and a high of 30°C. Sunrise is at 5.39am and sunset at 6.39pm.

Saturday, 20 February is sunny otherwise partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain and thundershowers in the evening. The minimum is 24°C and a high of 34°C. Sunrise is at 5.40am and sunset at 6.38pm.

Water supply in the following dams have increased slightly: Midmar Dam has a 46.28 percent capacity, Albert Falls Dam has a 37.76 percent capacity and Inanda Dam has a 79.44 percent capacity.
