Warm donations bring smiles

THE women who run the KwaNyuswa orphanage, which was left destitute after a fire broke out in one of the buildings, have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all the assistance that they have received.

The orphanage lost two fridges, 10 sewing machines, four overlockers, material, a photocopying machine, computer, sewing tables and chairs, food, clothes and blankets during the fire last November,

The home does not only operate as an orphanage but also has a group of women who run a community projects where they learn to sew and plant vegetables to help them earn an income.

Joyce Ngobese of Thelokuhle Community Projects said they are overwhelmed by the support of the Highway community, pre-schools, and businesses since the article was published in the Highway Mail on Friday, 27 November.

“People have been very supportive and to this day we are still receiving donations. We thank the Highway Mail and every single person that assisted us, may God bless each and every one of you,” she said.

Manager of the orphanage, Lindi Ntuli, said they still do not know what started the fire but the building that was destroyed is being renovated. It will take some time before the women can start working on their projects.

“It was fortunate that the children were not injured during this incident. We are so grateful for the donations and the children had a fun and wonderful holidays because of the love that the people have shown us during this hard time,” she said.
