Dolphins player suspended amid assault claims

The Dolphins CEO confirmed that the team's all-rounder has been suspended.

THE CEO for the Sunfoil Dolphins, Pete de Wet, confirmed that the team’s all-rounder, Robbie Frylinck, was placed under suspension pending the completion of a disciplinary process instituted against the player.

“It is alleged that Frylinck was involved in an incident with another Dolphins player following the team’s return to Durban last Sunday from a match played in Cape Town,” said de Wet.

Frylinck’s appearance before the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union’s disciplinary committee is to answer to a charge of alleged assault of a fellow player. “It is alleged that an argument developed in the car which was transporting the players to the airport after the provincial match they played in ended a day before it’s scheduled finish,” said de Wet.

The formal disciplinary hearing will begin this week and was preceded by the formulation of charges and the collection of statements from different parties. It was noted that the KZN Cricket Union will ensure a speedy and thorough finalisation of the disciplinary hearing.

De Wet stressed that it was imperative for the dignity of all the players involved to allow the disciplinary process to be completed, and warned against unsubstantiated rumours until the outcome of the hearing is made public.
