Angel tree spreads gifts of hope

More than 80 elderly residents from the Hillcrest Hospital were given Christmas presents thanks to the Robin Hood Foundation and the Watercrest Mall.

THE Robin Hood Foundation, together with the Watercrest Mall, blessed the grannies and grandpas at the Hillcrest government hospital this past festive season.

Watercrest Mall’s ‘Angel Tree’ could be found in the mall’s food court during November and December and shoppers were given the opportunity to pick a name of an elderly resident at the Hillcrest Residential Hospital and purchase them a gift. “Thank you to our caring and generous community who purchased 55 gifts, the remaining 30 gifts were purchased by Watercrest Mall,” said Elizabeth Roux, the marketing manager for the mall.

Watercrest Mall staff and Robin Hood Foundation volunteers had a wonderful festive morning with the residents handing out the gifts, singing carols and enjoying the amazing assortment of refreshments and eats supplied by Checkers Watercrest. “The residents were so thankful for the treats and the festive atmosphere we brought to them,” said Elizabeth.

Watercrest Mall thanked the Highway community and Checkers Watercrest for making the initiative possible.
